Communication is a social activity consisting of verbal and nonverbal signals used to exchange information, cooperate and maintain social relations. It is the use of messages to generate meanings within and across various contexts, cultures, channels, and media. Communication is simultaneously learned, naturally occurring, and co-created by participating individuals and cultures. Shared knowledge is essential for successful communication between participants.
