Soft Skills

« Back to Glossary Index

Soft skills is a widely used term referring to behaviours, attitudes, and personal qualities that enable people to work effectively in teams, plan and execute work, lead teams, etc. They might include things such as work ethic, positive outlook, time management, problem solving, confidence, and adaptability. While there is not a definitive description of soft skills, they are often contrasted with “hard skills”, such as technical and vocational skills and academic knowledge. Some organizations use the term “non-technical” skills or even “communication skills” to refer to soft skills.
